  Credentialed leaders and their spouses are invited to a weekend VMC Ministry Retreat. There will be activities and input from Bob Briscoe, WCRC Director. The theme of the weekend is “Joy in the Journey: A Focus on Re-creation.” The location is the Williamsburg Christian Retreat Center, 9275 Barnes Road, Toano, Va. Room check-in will be from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. on Friday. (Dinner on your own.) Register for Mennonite Women's Annual Missions Event

Join women from around the Conference on Saturday, May 6, 10:00 AM at First Mennonite Church, 601 E. Parham Rd., Richmond, VA. Speaker Moriah Hurst will provide input. Spend the day together: Mennonite Women of Virginia has reserved a coach bus to travel from Harrisonburg-Waynesboro-Richmond and back again. Plan to get lunch and spend some time at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens before returning home.

Nothing is lost on the breath  of God,” became a familiar refrain by the end of Mennonite Women of Virginia retreat, October 30-November 1. A crisp fall weekend at Massanetta Springs Resort, near Harrisonburg, Va., provided a perfect setting for relaxation and renewal. Women from as far away as North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania joined women from Virginia to celebrate God’s stories. In summer, our Outlet 10.27 gatherings move from our house to our backyard. Summertime means food, fellowship and pool time. It makes for a great gateway for families to come get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere. In addition to summer fun-time, we use this time to lead a discussion with the kids (and adults looking on). This year I decided to lead the kids time in the “Seven Signs” in John, encouraging the kids to spend time each week reading the stories in John, and then reading …

Bridging community, making connections

In August, a young woman described a difficult housing situation to Jaime Miller Gonzalez, our Case Manager. She and her husband moved their belongings into a double wide trailer with the intent of living there the next day. Unfortunately, a fire burned the majority of the trailer on the night of the move. The young couple had paid for the trailer in full, but had not secured property insurance and was unable to afford demolition costs. Through the Mennonite Builders’ Guild, Jaime was able to contact Partners Excavating, who donated …
