Celebrating Congregational Life Seminar

Lay leaders and pastors gathered for a one-day seminar on April 22, 2017, to be better equipped for the missional impulses that nurture congregational life and the mission of the church. Celebrating Congregational Life was a resource event about disciple-making, the mission of God and the mission of the church. Speakers and workshops gave tips and resources for leaders to take back to their congregations. Dr. Art McPhee brought the keynote address at Eastern Mennonite School on “The Missional Church: Missional Living and Community Weaving,” based on Acts 2: 43-47. …

"Life is a Pilgrimage" is theme of 2017 Ministry Retreat

  As we live in times of busyness, times of mounting tensions and conflict within the church and world, and exhaustion from schedules, pastors are invited to come away for rest, meditation upon biblical pilgrimages and stories, laughter, and sharing. How do you sense God in your own life’s pilgrimage? There will be four sessions where you can experience God’s presence in multi-sensory ways. Each session will be built from both Old and New Testament passages. Come and find pilgrimage as a way of life!

Credentialed leaders in Virginia Mennonite Conference are invited to the Spring 2016 Credentialed Leaders Consultation on “A Restorative Approach to Broken Boundaries in Congregational Life.” The vision for this consultation is to provide pastors with a biblical-theological rationale and ministry practices for working at broken boundaries in a restorative approach. The focus of this consultation is on members and friends of a congregation that have broken trust boundaries as a result of their behavior. On a cool rainy Saturday in September, ninety middle school youth and seventeen youth leaders, representing thirteen churches, gathered at Eastern Mennonite High School for a Middle School one-day youth event. Welcomed by Clyde Kratz, Executive Conference Minister, and led in lively worship by Seth Crissman and Greg Troyer, the event featured speaker Rebekka Stutzman. Rebekka and her husband Dave are missionaries in partnership with Virginia Mennonite Mission and Mennonite Mission Network.
