Peaceful Practices: April 21, Harrisonburg Mennonite Church 9-3:30 | Practicing healthy dialogue is an important part of our call to be peacemakers as a relevant Anabaptist witness to today’s world. In this workshop, Jes Stoltzfus Buller, author of MCC’s Peaceful Practices curriculum, will use stories and interactive learning to teach skills for understanding and engaging dialogue across difference. UPDATE! Monday, April 3, 8:15 a.m.: Final Family Visit Day at EMS for students entering grades 6-12 in fall of 2023! Student visitors will shadow a current student till noon for classes, chapel and lunch. Mennonite Women of Virginia invite you to a day of supporting missionary women, locally and globally, on Annual Missions Day. Grace Mennonite Church in Harrisonburg, Va will be hosting this event April 22, 2023 beginning at 9am with breakfast. Women serving through VMM with local colleges will be sharing stories of their work. The day provides many opportunities to give to various projects and mission’s needs. Lunch will then follow. Easter Sunrise Service at the Brethren & Mennonite Heritage Center. Come join us on our beautiful hilltop overlooking the Shenandoah Valley for an outdoor worship service Easter morning at 6:30 am! Caleb Schrock-Hurst, Racial Justice and Equality Minister of the Virginia Mennonite Conference, will share a meditation, and special music will be provided by a brass ensemble from Lindale Mennonite Church. NEW! Lindale Mennonite Church invites you to a Benefit Auction April 1st at Shady Oak Fellowship Hall (Weavers Mennonite Church). Proceeds to benefit current renovation efforts of the Lindale Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall. Concession type food served (by donation) and silent auction begins at 5:30pm. Live auction with Colonel Jack Bowman at 6:30pm. Items include: furniture, quilts, crafts, etc.

VMMissions

NEW! SAVE THE DATE: The annual Mississippi Fish Fry, supporting the ministry of Lezha Academic Center in Lezhe, Albania, will be Friday, May 5, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Park View Mennonite Church. Order meals for take-out or dine-in, consisting of fresh farm-raised Mississippi catfish, hush puppies, baked beans, coleslaw, and dessert. Meals are by donation.

What happens the first weekend in June? Motorcycle for Missions! It’s time to roll that motorcycle out of hibernation and get it tuned up! Save the date and enjoy the fun and fellowship on June 2-3, and raise awareness and support for VMMissions. Have to work? Ride just one of the two days! tranSend is a one-year to two-year VMMissions placement designed to help you discern your spiritual giftings and give you the opportunity to put them into practice. The program functions more like an internship or apprenticeship, and gives you a chance to explore your calling and learn from established ministry mentors while you consider your own future steps in joining God’s mission to the world. The next cohort application deadline is April 30. Learn more about the program, see open service opportunities, and apply at vmmissions.org/tranSend/

Join VMMissions in participating in the Great Community Give on April 19th. Our goal is to raise $10,000 that will allow us to recruit, train, send, and support workers who share the difference Christ makes, around the world. Gifts can be given online from 6:30 AM to 8 PM on April 19th. All are welcome to visit our office at 601 Parkwood Dr. in Harrisonburg between 11 am to 1 pm to drop off a donation and enjoy free food, fellowship, and fun with our staff and mission workers.

Mennonite Church USA is seeking nominees for its 2023 #BringthePeace awards. The annual award is given to two honorees: a legacy peacemaker in recognition of their life’s work and a young peacemaker (age 16-25), who can help inspire other young leaders.
